D-day has arrived. We are sitting at Auckland airport waiting to depart.  6 bags of gear, several hectic days at work (the pleasure in closing my laptop this morning was immense), 3 children, Land Rover will be ready to collect (still no insurance! Sat phone obviously has no sway), crap sleep last night and Iceland is waiting.  No wonder I drink.  But, the adventure has started!  Adios amigos.

Footnote postscript: the direct flight from Auckland to Dubai is 17 hours and 20 minutes. Not for the feint hearted.  I didn’t even know you could put that much fuel on a plane. Bloody hell! 7 hours to Gatwick from here…
