We’re selling Coco…

Coco on launch day last May.

This is emotional. We’ve made a decision to sell Coco, our beautiful Swan 58. Yes it’s pretty much a brand new yacht. We had a few months on her last European summer ironing out the kinks and that’s about it. While this is a bit heartbreaking for us, it’s someone else’s gain. We’ve done all the hard work to get this yacht built, commissioned, completely outfitted, got all the systems settled in. So it’s ready for new owners to walk onboard and sail off into the sunset.

The big question on everyone’s lips is why on earth would you guys do this? Well if you’ve been following, last November I did a right old job on my back and ended up in hospital in Barcelona getting an operation on it. It was a pretty traumatic time. Unfortunately, it’s still not 100% and that means we can’t complete the mission we embarked on when we built this yacht. I’ve still got a couple of years to go to get it sorted and that means leaving a beautiful yacht sitting on the hard. Which is just a crime.

Coco was designed to be a fast ocean cruiser to travel the Mediterranean and the world and she’s a real treat to live on for long periods of time. It’s one of the best, and highest spec’d Swan 58’s built; we went full noise.

However, I can’t risk another episode in the middle of an ocean, lying on a bed scoffing pain killers, immobilised with with a bad back while my wife has to manage a powerful yacht on her own. It’s just not a clever move. Look, in a few years it’s likely we’ll be ordering another Swan but right now, I can bear the thought of this beautiful yacht sitting on the hard gathering dust until I’m ready to sail again.

The living spaces are truely beautiful.

So most unlike me, we’re making a sensible decision and Coco needs a new family who will use her as she’s been designed to be used.

I could wax lyrical about how amazing this yacht is but she speaks for herself. She’s beautiful, has style and class, we’ve rigged her for speed and reliability and lacks nothing in terms of all the options. We’ve sailed half way around the world before on our first Swan, so we know what you need on a yacht of this class. It’s set up to race if you want, or to cruise the Med, or to sail around the world.

If you want an amazing yacht, here it is. Coco is hull number 15 in the Swan 58 builds and she’s one of the highest spec’s constructed. She was launched last year in Barcelona and we sailed her for about 3 months. She’s since been on the hard at Nautor Swan Global Services in Badalona. So it’s pretty much a brand new yacht and we’ve done all the hard yards in getting it built, commissioning, setting her up ready to sail.

Here’s a quick rundown on the yacht:

  1. Must have been a heartbreaking decision. But a ‘bad back’ is horrible and you can be incapacitated. I hope your back mends well and you’re back doing the things you love in no time at all.
I’d love to put in an offer…. But I know it’s out of my price range 😉

  6. Hi Alex, so sorry to hear this and can feel your pain in the decision to sell Coco. However, an idea to consider… There are lots of guys (and ladies) in Palma de Mallorca that would love to work for a summer season as crew. Having someone along to help out would allow you to still enjoy the yacht while you are recovering. Might be a better solution than taking a depreciation hit on a new yacht. Food for thought. Art
